Municipality of Lakeland Ridges Community Events

Lots of fun events happening all around Lakeland Ridges.  Below are events we are aware of for the months of February & March.  We will update as more information becomes available.

Ward One
February 24 – Winter Carnival

It is time to celebrate Winter with a wee bit of fun at our Winter Carnival February 24, 2024, at the Community Hall in Fosterville from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. There are a variety of activities for both inside and outside (weather dependent) geared to folks of all ages. You can participate in them all or just pick and choose the ones you like. There is no fee for participating in the activities. A community lunch will be served from noon to 1:00 pm – chili, corn chowder, rolls/crackers, cookies, hot chocolate, tea and coffee – cost by donation. Come out and join your family, friends and neighbors. Please let others know of this event as many are not on Facebook.

March Break – Movie and Popcorn – Date and time TBD

 

Ward Two

February 3 – safeTALK Suicide Alertness for everyone Workshop – 12:30-4:30 p.m. Debec Women’s Institute Hall. This 3.5 hour workshop is for anyone 15 years and older who may interact with someone having thoughts of suicide. This workshop is divided in two parts – Identifying warning signs of persons with thoughts of suicide and connecting the person with thoughts of suicide to support. FREE – register by email at RVSPC4U@gmail.com This is sponsored by the River Valley Suicide Prevention Committee

February 19 – Family Skate Day – 1:00-3:00 p.m. (pending ice is in good condition)

February 24 – “Italy Comes To Debec” – 2 seatings – (4:00-5:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:00 p.m.) More information to follow

Public Skating – 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays – free to use other hours – pending ice is in good condition and weather considerations

March 16 – Red Neck Curling

Dig out the BROOMS and WASHER jugs! Bring a “Broom” of choice. Washer Fluid Jugs will be provided. Best REDNECK UNIFORMS win a PRIZE! Debec Outside Rink – 50/50, Prizes and Canteen. (Ice conditions and weather permitting) Registration $ 125/Team of 4 – Check In Time is 8:00 a.m. Pre-payment to be received between March 2-9. E-transfer available debecrec@gmail.com

Ward Four

February 10 – Valentine Tea and Silent Auction – 2:00-4:00 p.m. – Canterbury Community Centre – Live entertainment, sweets and sandwiches included. $ 8.00 per ticket – Hosted by the Canterbury Ladies Auxiliary.

Bingo the last Thursday of the month (beginning in February) hosted by Canterbury Ladies Auxiliary.  More info to come.
